Comics in the classroom?!?!??

Kevin and I analyzed an article called:
           Teaching History with Comic Books:
A Case Study of Violence, War, and the Graphic Novel

This article mostly discusses about the comic: Unknown Soldier and its usability in history classes.

Two types of comics:
  • superhero story-telling
  • story-lines discussing war (WWII) and social problems (Segregation/Race relations).
Japanese comics (all ages):

American kid comics:

American mature comics:
Unknown Soldier = WWII  &  Uganda

Pros:
  • Graphic novels teach students allow a different perspective on a topic.
  • Visuals excite students about the topic and make them more involved in discussions.
Cons:
  • Students need to already know about the topic in order to be able to analyze the comic's contents.
  • Teachers need to go more in-depth to fill in on some topics glanced over by comics.

My Avatar and I

Yo! My name is Jonathan. It's very nice to meet you! I am like any other person: asian, likes funny activities, likes adventure, likes video games, etc. But I won't get into that very much to save us some time. :) I am open-minded to most things. I like to learn about new places, eat new food, and meet new people!

Oh, did I tell you that I am a water-bender? ;)

Hello, my name is Happy! Nice to meet you! As you can see, I am a blue cat and I have a fish in my mouth.

Let's see, you want to know more about me?

Well, my favoooorite phrase is:

Whenever you see me I'll usually be happy. I like to laugh and have fun by doing funny things. Throughout this blog, I will share my thought whenever I think something is funny. :)

Oh, did I forget to tell you? I can fly~

But on some rare, rare occasions I can get preeetty serious.

Anyways, IT WAS NICE MEETING YOU! GO FISH!
